Strategic Asset: Maharashtra Renewable Energy Hub

1. The Vision: Leading India’s 500 GW Transition

Sterling GC is currently spearheading the development of a strategic renewable energy hub in Maharashtra (India).  Our mission is to align with India’s ambitious 2030 De-Carbonisation Targets, bridging the gap between variable renewable generation and the global demand for 24/7 clean energy.

The National Context: India’s Energy Ambition

Our proposed project is built upon the robust framework of India’s national energy strategy:

  • 500 GW Non-Fossil Goal: India is committed to installing 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.  Our phased 20 MW to 100 MW proposed roadmap is designed to contribute directly to this mandate.
  • National Green Hydrogen Mission: With a national target of producing 5 MMT of Green Hydrogen annually by 2030, our asset serves as a future site for the "Green Molecule" economy.
  • Energy Independence 2047: We aim to support India’s journey toward becoming an energy-independent nation through domestic innovation and international technology cooperation.

2. Commercial Roadmap: Pilot to Scale

Phased Development Roadmap: 1x to 5x Scaling

Our proposed framework is designed to align with the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) objectives, providing a secure, "Safe Harbour" environment for European technology validation in one of the world's fastest-growing energy markets.   Our strategy follows a de-risked, commercial pathway designed for maximum technical and financial stability:

Phase 1: 20 MW Commercial Pilot

Focused on stabilising local industrial grids and providing high-reliability power to the burgeoning digital economy.  This phase is optimised for integration with European Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Long-Duration Storage (LDES) technologies.

Phase 2: 100 MW Industrial Expansion

Scaling the asset by 5x to serve as a future regional anchor for Green Molecule (Hydrogen/Ammonia) production.  This phase targets the global de-carbonisation market, providing a pathway for energy carrier exports to the European Union and beyond.

3. Strategic Policy Drivers & Incentives

To achieve target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, the Indian government has introduced aggressive support mechanisms that Sterling GC leverages for our consortium partners:

  • 40% BESS VGF:  Eligibility for 40% Viability Gap Funding, effectively reducing the CAPEX of the battery system by nearly half.
  • Green Hydrogen Mission: Aiming for 5 MMT of green hydrogen production capacity per annum, supported by over ₹19,000 Crore (approx. €2.1B) in government incentives.
  • Inter-State Transmission (ISTS) Waivers: Ensuring cost-effective power wheeling for renewable energy projects.
  • Tax Holiday for Hyper-scale Data Centers (effective through 2047): This proposed 20 MW Pilot provides the critical BESS-backed green power required for global cloud providers to secure these tax incentives while fulfilling ESG mandates.

4. The "Trust Bridge" for European Partners

In alignment with the 2026 India-EU Trade Deal, Sterling GC operates as a Safe Harbour for European Research & Technology Organisations (RTOs) and Industrial OEMs.

  • Technology Validation: A real-world utility-scale site to test Energy Management Systems (EMS) in high-demand, high-temperature Indo-Pacific conditions.
  • Regulatory Navigation: We handle the local complexities of MNRE compliance, ISTS waivers, and land-use conversion.
  • IP Protection: Structured data-sharing under international legal protocols for secure innovation.

5. Future Outlook: Green Molecule Exports

By scaling to 100 MW, this Maharashtra hub aims to become a gateway for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia exports.  We aim to serve as a primary supplier for the European Union's industrial de-carbonisation, creating a stable, long-term clean energy corridor between our two regions.

6. Investment & Partnership Roadmap -

In alignment with the 2026 India-EU Trade Deal, Sterling GC is currently vetting Strategic Alliances for our 100 MW Maharashtra pipeline.  We are prioritising partners who provide a synergy between Cutting-edge EU Technology and Long-term Infrastructure Investment.  Our goal is to create a 'bankable' model that maximises the FDI incentives provided by the ambitious incentives by Government of India.

Partnership & Inquiry: Detailed technical dossiers and related feasibility studies would be nade available to qualified partners under a Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (mNDA).
